Philadelphia police officer tossed over railing in Olney

Police are searching for a man who they say pushed a police officer over a railing in Philadelphia’s Olney section.

Officers responded to a domestic violence call on East Godfrey Avenue early Wednesday.

Chief Inspector Scott Small says the suspect became belligerent and fought with the officers as they tried to search him. Small says the officer and suspect fell over a railing and the suspect punched and kicked the officer before fleeing.

The officer is being treated for bruises.
