Philadelphia man who brought down NYC subway stabber is suing NYPD
Last month, Joseph Lozito brought down a violent man wanted for stabbing his family and several others. The Philadelphia native was on the New York City subway en route to work when Maksim Gelman came after him.
Lozito is now suing New York City and the New York City Police Department for negligence, claiming the NYPD did not act quick enough when they saw Gelman lunge at Lozito.
As Action News reports, Lozito’s lawyer says there is new evidence suggesting NYPD officers on the subway locked the door when they saw Gelman go after Lozito, instead of quickly drawing their weapons and coming to Lozito’s aid.
Lozito and his wife will formally file the suit Friday.
