Philadelphia City Council votes to pass school tax

Though Philadelphia is still waiting on more funding from the state, City Council today voted 11 to 6 pass the city’s school tax plan, WHYY’s Tom MacDonald tells us.

A 4 percent property tax hike and a parking meter rate hike will fund the School District with $53 million.

Nutter said yesterday he’s not sure if more money will come from the state. Tom will have the full Council report for us later.
