Philadelphia activates special summer heat programs Wednesday

    In conjunction with the National Weather Service’s Excessive Heat Warning issued for the region Wednesday, the City of Philadelphia has announced it has activated its special summer heat programs.

    The announcement comes from Philadelphia Health Commissioner Donald F. Schwarz.

    The city’s heat programs includes home visits by special field teams, operation of the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging’s ‘Heatline’ and enhanced daytime outreach for the homeless.

    The city is also emphasizing the need for everyone to look out for older neighbors, friends and relatives.
