Phila. summer schools to dismiss early due to extreme heat, humidity

The School District of Philadelphia has announced it will dismiss SLAM students from all district schools at 1 p.m., due to Tuesday’s extreme heat and humidity.

Forecasters were predicting temperatures to reach into the high 90’s in Philadelphia, with conditions feeling more like the 100’s.

SLAM is the district’s “Summer Learning and More program.”

The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory, in effect from noon until 8 p.m. for parts of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.  The advisory includes southeastern Pennsylvania, northern Delaware and central and southern New Jersey.
