Person pulled from Barnegat Bay after jumping off bridge

A person jumped off the Thomas A. Mathis Bridge around sunrise today and was later found deceased in the Barnegat Bay, authorities said.
The unidentified person was spotted jumping from the bridge, which connects Toms River with Pelican Island, prompting a water search, according to Ocean County Police, Fire, and EMS on Facebook.
The male jumped as a Toms River police officer arrived at the scene.
Eyewitnesses say there was a vigorous emergency response.
Police, fire department water rescue units, the New Jersey State Police, and the US Coast Guard responded.
The body was later located and brought to shore.
