Pennsylvania relaxes landfill rules for storm cleanup

    To aid with storm cleanup, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has relaxed its landfill rules.

    DEP Chief Michael Krancer said today waste haulers without the usual state authorization will be able to dispose of storm debris during the ongoing 90-day emergency declaration, the Associated Press reports, and $6.25/ton tipping fee has been waived.

    Landfills will be able to expand their hours and increase their daily volume of waste, as well.
