Pennsylvania House resolution would give Paterno a state holiday

The Pennsylvania House is likely to create a new state holiday, but don’t expect a day off from work.

The House has introduced legislation to make Sept. 3 “Coach Paterno Day” in honor of Penn State football coach Joe Paterno.

Philly Post cites a report from Onward State that says the resolution was introduced last month, but reps are waiting for a day Paterno can visit the House floor to make the whole thing official.

Sept. 3 marks the opening of the team’s 2011 season with a home game against Indiana State.
