Pennsylvania governor undergoing prostate cancer treatment

Pennsylvania’s governor is undergoing an outpatient procedure for prostate cancer and will be out of the office for a few days.

A spokesman for Gov. Tom Wolf announced the unspecified procedure in a news release issued Monday. He’s expected to remain at his home in Mount Wolf until Thursday.

The 67-year-old Democrat has described it as a mild form that would require minor treatment that won’t involve chemotherapy. He publicly disclosed the cancer in February.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among U.S. men, with an estimated 220,000 new cases and 27,500 deaths last year.
