PennDOT says new driver’s license design is better for detecting counterfeits
PennDOT says it’s invented a better driver’s license.
The state Department of Transportation announced Monday that a new security feature is being added to make it easier so that police officers, bartenders and others can more easily spot counterfeit licenses and state identification cards.
The new license features a special hologram that shows the letters “PA” inside a keystone shape that is visible on the front of the card when it is tilted. The logo flips from black-on-white to white-on-black when the card is turned 90 degrees.
PennDOT says Pennsylvania is the only state to use such an enhanced security feature.
The new technology is in addition to other holographic images already embedded in licenses.
