The Penn Treaty Special Services District – a non-profit set up by two Fishtown-based groups to receive and distribute money from SugarHouse casino – is now accepting applications for grants.
The five-member board, which currently includes three Fishtown residents and two Northern Liberties residents, meets on the third Wednesday of each month, 6:30-9PM (starting tomorrow the 20th at Liberties Bar, 705 N. 2nd St.) and will hear from five applicants at each meeting.
Interested groups need to first fill out an application form. We’ve uploaded the form to the NLNA’s Web site; you can download it from our home page at www.nlna.org. The SSD accepts applications from organizations doing work in Northern Liberties, Fishtown, and parts of Port Richmond. If your group is not a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit, you may need a fiscal sponsor. Please feel free to contact the NLNA if you would like us to consider serving as your group’s fiscal sponsor.
Currently it is not clear where to deliver your application after it’s been filled out. For your convenience, please feel free to email it to the NLNA (email@example.com), or to hand-deliver it to our office (3rd & Fairmount), and we will get it to the SSD. Or, you can call SSD President Joe Rafter at 267-251-2704 and ask him for instructions on handing in the application.
