Penn State has one of most well-paid public college presidents in the nation

How much does Graham Spanier make? About $800,000 annually, according to the Chronicle of Higher Education.

A report released Sunday by the Chronicle says Spanier is the fifth-highest paid public college president in the nation. His salary include annual base pay, deferred compensation and retirement contribution, the Associated Press reports.

A spokesman for the university says Spanier’s 15 years at PSU is one of the longest in the country, and his pay, set by the board of trustees, is appropriately matched to Spanier’s success at the school.
