Pedestrian improvements planned for Ridley intersection where teens were hit

PennDOT has approved a safety project for a Ridley Township intersection that’s proven dangerous in the past.

The intersection at MacDade-Morton-Haverford roadways will get more pedestrian friendly, the Delaware County Times reports, but not until 2013.

Four teenagers were struck at the intersection last year, and one is still being treated for his injuries.

Though a pedestrian bridge would be too costly, but PennDOT will fund crosswalk countdown timers and larger traffic signal arms.

Bidding is expected to begin this fall.
