Pearl Gosnell pleads guilty in abortion clinic case

Pearl Gosnell has pleaded guilty to assisting her husband at the West Philadelphia abortion clinic accused of adminstering late-term abortions and killing viable babies.

Gosnell was charged with participating in an illegal late-term abortion, conspiracy and being part of a corrupt organization at husband Kermit Gosnell’s clinic. Kermit Gosnell faces trial for first-degree murder for the deaths of an adult female patient and several babies. Several other clinic employees have already pleaded guilty to their roles in the crimes.

Kermit Gosnell lost his license in 2010 when allegations of deplorable conditions at the clinic came out. Ten people were eventually charged and lawmakers have demanded legislation and inspections to prevent a similar situation.

Health & Science reporter Carolyn Beeler will have more details later today.
