A man is in custody following a standoff in Union Beach Friday evening that ended without injuries, authorities said.

Police from multiple jurisdictions converged on a neighborhood near Poole Avenue and Stone Road, locking down the area shortly before 10:00 p.m., according to Monmouth County Police, Fire, & EMS on Facebook.

Police began negotiations with a man, who was not identified, and the situation was resolved peacefully over an hour later.

It is not immediately known what sparked the incident.

Monmouth County First Assistant Prosecutor Marc LeMieux tells APP.com that the man is being treated by health care professionals, adding that authorities will not file criminal charges.
