PATCO rolls out new card fare system today

One day you will tell your grandkids you used to walk seven miles in the snow uphill both ways to get to and from school. Barefoot, of course. There were no such things and cell phones and no one had heard of GPS. But you won’t be able to moan about having to go to the station to add money to your PATCO card.

Today marks the first day of the transit corporation’s new Freedom Card system. Instead of heading to your nearest PATCO stop to load your card with transit fare, card holders can now access their accounts online to register, add fare or set up automatic replenishment.

So you can add to the list another thing your grandparents can use to remind you how good you have it.
