PATCO riders choose blue color scheme for new cars

PATCO is going blue.

After the Delaware River Port Authority asked riders to choose between two color schemes each of blue, green or yellow, the authority has settled on blue for PATCO’s refurbished cars’ interiors.

The bodies of the cars will be spared, but outfitted with new parts like brakes and automatic train controls. Inside, the seats will have higher backs and the cars will get new lighting and HVAC systems.

Overhaul will take about five years, as the cars will be refurbished in groups so PATCO service won’t be interrupted.
