Pa. pensions board meets amid employee probe

The board of Pennsylvania’s state employee pension fund is convening in Harrisburg amid questions about an investigation into its chief investment officer.

The agenda for the State Employees’ Retirement Board meeting on Wednesday doesn’t include any direct reference to investment manager Tony Clark, who has been put on paid leave and is planning to retire.

However, the board is expected to consider hiring a lawyer to help it deal with unspecified allegations against Clark.

State Treasurer Rob McCord, a board member, says lawyers for Gov. Tom Corbett have mishandled the investigation. McCord supports bringing in outside legal assistance.

Calls to a phone in Virginia listed in Clark’s name have gone unanswered. He plans to retire at the end of December.
