Pa. mother pleads in drug-fueled chase in cruiser

A Lehigh Valley woman admits she was on a three-day drug binge when she took part in a police chase that involved a pair of stolen cruisers.

Authorities say 23-year-old Shayna Sykes of Macungie and 24-year-old Blake Bills left their infant with a relative in March before setting off for Philadelphia and Camden, N.J.

Sykes pleaded guilty Friday to 30 counts, including aggravated assault, vehicle theft and driving while impaired.

A Philadelphia judge set sentencing for Sept. 16, while Bills is due in court next month in his case.

He is also charged with attempted murder for allegedly knocking down an officer in Camden with a stolen cruiser.

Authorities say the couple then crossed a bridge to Philadelphia and led police on a high-speed chase before briefly stealing a second cruiser.
