Pa. animal advocates seek extension to buy Vick’s Virginia compound

Members of Dogs Deserve Better are hoping for a 30-day extension to raise money to buy Michael Vick’s former dogfighting compound in Virginia. The group missed its Sunday deadline to raise $600,000, the Associated Press reports.
The Tipton, Pa., group raised $130,000 toward its ultimate $3 million goal to buy the property and build a facility for the dogs on the site. The 15-acre property in Surry County boasted a 46,000-sq.-ft. house and was home to Vick’s Bad News Kennels.
