One of convicted killer Gary Heidnik’s victims recalls her escape 25 years ago

It’s been 25 years since Josefina Rivera escaped from convicted kidnapper and killer Gary Heidnik.

After earning her captor’s trust, Rivera fled from his grasps in March 1987 and led the police to several other victims.
Today’s Daily News story about Rivera is worth reading. It captures her life before and after she was kidnapped, and how she managed to survive when others couldn’t.

    Heidnik was executed in 1999.
