On gay marriage, Gov. Corbett’s aim is off

    The Pennsylvania Constitution guarantees equal protection to its citizens. For the time being, it also legitimizes discrimination against same-sex couples who want to marry.

    Montgomery County, recognizing that equal protection trumps bigotry, has started issuing marriage licenses to gay couples, prompting Gov. Corbett to respond with a lawsuit aimed at forcing the county to stand, with him, on the wrong side of history — for the time being.
