Office of Highway Safety warns about St. Patrick’s Day DUI enforcement

“Don’t depend on the luck o’ the Irish to get you out of a DUI this St. Patrick’s Day.”  That’s the warning from the state Office of Highway Safety this weekend.  The agency is coordinating DUI checkpoints over the weekend designed to stop drunk drivers.  Last year, Delaware police arrested 17 people for DUI over the St. Patrick’s Day holiday.

So far this year, there have been four alcohol-related traffic deaths, compared to nine at this time last year.  In 2012, 51 percent of all vehicle deaths in Delaware were alcohol related.
