Ocean View solar car port dedicated

State leaders will be in Ocean View to help the town celebrate the dedication of a 260-foot-long solar carport.  

Funded with a $458,000 grant from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the solar carport is designed to reduce energy costs for the town.  The panels were made in Newark by Motech and are expected to generate more than 81,000 kWh of electricity, which would be more than 80 percent of the Wallace A. Melson Municipal Building’s annual electric consumption.
