Ocean City is the best beach town in the United States, according to a “tournament challenge” contest run by Coastal Living Magazine.

The Cape May County community beat out Huntington Beach, California in the contest finals, according to the magazine.

In the form of a NCAA basketball tournament bracket, the contest featured beaches from each coastal state going head-to-head, with the public voting through each round.

Coastal Living magazine describes Ocean City as an “all-American” community with “its two-and-a-half-mile-long boardwalk, eight miles of pale sand, and the blue Atlantic (and beautiful bayside as well).”

The magazine states that it’s “hard to find a more iconic summer destination than this resort town” with a “true family vibe (Ocean City is a dry town) and fun-loving spirit.”

The self-billed “America’s Greatest Family Resort” was named the state’s most popular beach in 2009, 2014, and 2015.
