NWS: “Dangerous” snow band moving through at 6:30 a.m.; travel not recommended

A “dangerous” snow band is moving through the Philadelphia suburbs and portions of South Jersey around 6:30 a.m., potentially dumping three to four inches of snow an hour, the National Weather Service warns in a bulletin.

The band is moving northeast at 20 mph and will head through Central Jersey by 8 a.m., NWS says.

    From the bulletin:

“The snow will rapidly drop visibilities to near zero. Travel is not recommended at all. The likelihood of becoming trapped on roadways is high. If you absolutely must travel, please make sure you have blankets, a cell phone and a means of keeping yourself warm.”
