Nutter appoints new head of program to help ex-offenders

After signing into law legislation to “ban the box,” Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter announced the appointment of William E. Hart as executive director of the Mayor’s Office of Re-integration Services for Ex-offenders.

The office, much like the legislation that removes criminal record questions from initial job applications, is designed to help ex-offenders re-enter the workforce.

With RISE, Hart, the former director of community employment at Temple University, will oversee day-to-day and implementation operations.
