Nonprofit aims to relocate Philly ship to Delaware despite bridge repair delays

The USS Forrest Sherman DD-931 Foundation, Inc. wants to move the USS Forrest Sherman destroy from Philadelphia to Delaware’s Indian River Inlet.

The nonprofit group has plans to use the World War II Navy vessel as a museum, campaing space for kids and educational tool, the Associated Press reports.

The relocation wouldn’t take place until Delaware’s Indian River Inlet Bridge is ready, as its currently being repaired. Delays, which resulted in a lawsuit from DelDOT, mean the bridge isn’t expected to reopen until December.
