Nominees announced for Philadelphia’s first food vendor awards

On July 9, one of Philadelphia’s food vendors will be awarded the prestigious Vendy Award.

What started in New York six years ago as a way to celebrate tasty food from local trucks comes to Philadelphia for the first time this year.

Eight vendors have been nominated, five of whom hail from West Philly.

You can read about the vendors on the Vendy Awards page. A winner will be crowned at next week’s event at the Piazza, where money will be raised for the Food Trust. Judged include Mayor Michael Nutter, professional chefs and local food editors.
