No debit card fees from Wells Fargo, TD Bank

Two big banks say they’ve decided not to charge customers a monthly fee for debit card purchases.

Wells Fargo and TD Bank announced late last week they won’t be charging the usage fees, perhaps after seeing how negatively consumers reacted to Bank of America’s decision to charge $5 per month for debit card use.

What was bad news for Bank of America customers proved fruitful for credit unions. Known for minimal fees and free checking, credit unions have become a more viable baning option for those with  grudge against big banks.
