NJ Weedman’s second civil rights suit moves to U.S. court
The second of two civil rights lawsuits filed by a New Jersey marijuana advocate known as the “NJ Weedman” has been moved to federal court in Trenton.
Ed Forchion’s lawsuit against Trenton police and the Mercer County prosecutor’s office will now be tried in federal court along with his other civil suit, NJ.com reported.
The lawsuit contends that police and Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo Onofri violated Forchion’s civil rights when authorities raided his restaurant and “weed temple” in April.
Forchion said he was unlawfully arrested and alleges that police conducted the raid at his establishment, NJ Weedman’s Joint, to get his camera equipment.
The first lawsuit focuses on an alleged fight outside the eatery which Forchion claims police lied about. Forchion’s attorney plans to merge the two suits.
