N.J. man dies while sledding on Vt. ski trail

Authorities say a 45-year-old New Jersey man died after he was injured while sledding with two friends on a ski trail in Vermont.

Winhall Police Sgt. Josh Epstein says Lawrence Walck, of Pittstown, N.J., was found unresponsive on the Stratton Mountain Resort early Saturday morning. Epstein says Walck was injured after crashing into an object after his sled left the Lower Tamarac trial.

Epstein says the private trail was closed while Walck and two friends were sledding on it. The friends began CPR and police and rescue workers continued it for a half hour before Walck was pronounced dead on the trail around 3 a.m.

Officials say the cause of death will be determined by the Burlington Medical Examiner’s Office.
