Several polls during the summer showed Republican Chris Christie with a double-digit lead over incumbent Democrat Jon Corzine. The latest Fairleigh Dickinson poll shows Corzine ahead with just a one point advantage among likely voters surveyed. Christie says the poll will not prompt him to change his campaign strategy.
Christie: I have had a strategy since February. It is the strategy I continue to pursue and it is a simple one. I will tell people what my philosophy of government is, the direction I’m going to take our government in. We are going to cut spending. We are going to cut income taxes over the next four years.
Christie says he’s happy to be where he is in the polls and predicts a neck and neck contest in the final days leading up to the November third election.
