In many ways sports have led the way toward diversity, integration and a meritocracy blind to race.
It’s all the more ironic then, given the response of the NBA’s commissioner Adam Silver to the infamous tape exposing the views of L.A. Clippers owner Donald Sterling, that the NFL and the Washington Redskins continue to deny the reality of their racially insulting team name.
