    What do the Grammys, Arlene Ackerman and breast milk donors have in common? Nothing, except they’re all on our agenda today.

     

    The Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus will formally announce its support of School District of Philadelphia Superintendent Arlene Ackerman. Mayor Michael Nutter and the School Reform Commission have already stated their support. Reporter Dave Davies will be at the PLBC’s press conference at noon.

    This morning, former City Controller candidate Al Schmidt announced his candidacy for Philadelphia City Commission. Great timing given the chaos at surrounding current Commissioner Marge Tartaglion. Dave will reach out to Schmidt about his candidacy.

    Susan Philips continues to follows the Marcellus Shale drilling regulations. She’ll speak with the Marcellus Shale Coalition for the latest.

    Grammy nominee Dave Holland, a big band bass player, is enlightening kids at CAPA. Reporter Peter Crimmins will catch up with Holland, where he’s teaching at the South Philadelphia high school.

    Is sharing breast milk OK? Meggan Kole is following a story about women in the area who donate and receive breast milk. She’ll speak to women who’ve particpated about the risks and benefits of sharing unregulated breast milk.
