Newark residents on boil advisory after water main break

Residents in parts of Newark, Del., have been advised to boil their water after an early morning water main break.

People living in these highlighted sections of Windy Hils and Kirkwood Highway are in the affected area, and should boil their water notified otherwise.

The break poses a risk for E. coli bacteria contaminated drinking water, so boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation until bacteria test results come back. Officials say the matter will be resolved in the next 48 hours.
