New York Times lauds Philadelphia’s efforts to make healthy food accessible

    Citing two major healthy food initiatives, New York Times food writer Mark Bittman calls Philadelphia one of the most progressive food cities in the nation.

    Aside from the movement to tax soda, Bittman notes the efforts of the Food Trust and the Fresh Food Financing Initiative program, both of which have helped lower-income communities in Philadelphia get access to healthy food — geographically and financially.
