The program is called PhillyWorks. It’s designed to transition part time workers to full-time jobs – so more part time jobs can go to the unemployed. Anthony Flannigan found out about the program while volunteering in South Philadelphia as part of a cleanup crew. He’s optimistic it will have a major impact on his life.

Flannigan: I hope the program changes my life, because I have two children 15-year-old daughter and a 10-year-old son that I want to be a better role model to. I’m hoping the program gives me a boost of confidence. I believe the program is a great opportunity and a blessing, because we are going to give the program the heartbeat.

Funding for the 14 month effort comes from a federal grant of just under half a million dollars.
