New Jersey Senate Democrats meet to discuss school funding

New Jersey Senate Democrats have a big task at hand today: mapping out a plan for funding an extra $500 million to aid the state’s poor school districts.

They’ve got to decide whether to construct their own spending plan or work with what Gov. Chris Christie has already proposed, as the Associated Press reports.

With a balanced budget due this month, action must be taken. Discussions today will include whether and how to provide more funding to schools, Medicaid, women’s health clinics and urban business zones.
