New gambling legislation considered in Dover

New legislation that would authorize two new casinos in Delaware gets its first legislative hearing today in Dover.

A House committee is considering the bill from Representative Pete Schwartzkopf of Rehoboth Beach.  The measure would also create a study committee to evaluate proposals to expand casino gambling.  Existing racinos contend additional gambling options would only dilute the market in Delaware, which also faces increasing competition in other states.  Schwartzkopf’s proposal would allow for one casino in New Castle County and one casino in Sussex County.
