New Delaware Hospice Center gets the green light

New Castle County Council gave unanimous approval to Delaware Hospice’s plans for an inpatient center in Pike Creek.

The plans call for a facility with 24 patient/family suites.  The site will provide specialized care beyond what family members are able to provide in the home.

The demand for the new facility was identified through a needs assessment.  Delaware Hospice opened an in-patient center in Milford in 2008.  Some families from New Castle County had been making the trek to Milford to take advantage of the care being offered.  The new facility will provide the same care, but will be much closer to home for those patients in New Castle County.

The Pike Creek location will offer an alternative to hospital care, with state-of-the-art technology combined with more of the comforts from home.  The new facility will offer unlimited visiting hours.
