New 9/11 monument unveiled in Gloucester Township

Gloucester Township marked the 10th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks by unveiling a new World Trade Center Artifact Memorial outside of the Chews Landing Fire Department’s Somerdale Road Station.

Gloucester Township Patch reports the 182-pound steel beam from one of the fallen World Trade Center buildings was unveiled to the community today.

According to the report, the steel beam was brought to the township as part of Firefighter Close Calls, an organization through the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

The organization was making pieces of World Trade Center debris and artifacts salvaged during the cleanup operations available to communities.
