National Guard, State Police conduct emergency training exercises at Island Beach State Park [video]

The New Jersey National Guard and New Jersey State Police recently teamed up for training exercises in Island Beach State Park.

The 227th Air Support Operations Squadron and 1-150th Assault Helicopter Battalion along with the New Jersey State Police participated in the “I Am Ready” exercise earlier this month.

“I Am Ready” is an aviation centric, joint training exercise to validate mutual aid agreements and response efforts for homeland security and domestic operations requiring New Jersey National Guard rotary wing support, according to a release.

Some of the exercises included Fast-Rope Insertion Extraction System (FRIES) and Special Purpose Insertion Extraction (SPIES) for use during emergency situations.
