NASA prepares Atlantis shuttle for final space mission

At 8:06 a.m., the four-member crew of NASA’s Atlantis shuttle began boarding.

If weather permits, the late-morning launch of Atlantis will be the space program’s final mission. You can watch live coverage of the launch on NASA TV, follow Philly native Shareef Jackson as he tweets with others from Florida, and look for NewsWorks’ own coverage as we approach launch time.

In case you missed last night’s NewsWorks Tonight broadcast, catch up with Atlantis Commander Chris Ferguson. The Northeast Philly native and Drexel grad is leading NASA’s last space mission, and Drexel graphic design students are showing their support with patches Feguson and the crew will leave in space.
