NASA leader to deliver keynote at Delaware State commencement
As the first African American to serve as NASA Administrator, Charles Bolden will be the keynote speaker at DSU’s graduation ceremony in Dover on May 19.
Bolden was nominated by President Obama as the leader of NASA and started his work as the space agency’s twelfth administrator in July 2009. Bolden traveled to space four times between 1986 and 1994. He commanded two missions and was a member of the first joint US-Russian shuttle mission.
His visit to Dover next month comes as the school is in the midst of assisting in research on NASA’s Mars project. Researchers at DSU are examining information being gathered on Mars by the Curiosity Rover.
Bolden’s address, along with other commencement activities, will be held outdoors at 10 a.m. on May 19 at DSU’s Alumni Stadium.
