Mystery continues, attention grows for Civil War statue missing head

As the mystery continues, the attention apparently is growing into how a Civil War statue in New Jersey came to be missing a head.

The News of Cumberland County reports it all started with the report of a missing head on a Civil War statue in Bridgeton on Tuesday.

A reward for information leading to an arrest and recovery of the missing head was offered at $100 by Bridgeton Police Chief Mark Ott.

But on Thursday, the reward quickly grew, with donations from the Bridgeton Crimestoppers Association and others. On Friday, The News of Cumberland County reports another donation was offered by the VFW Post in the amount of $500.

The reward has now surpassed $1,000 and it doesn’t just include money. According to the report, two eateries have now added gift certificates to anyone who can locate the statue’s missing head.
