Music for your little Coltranes and Travoltas

This weekend, we have just two events, but they are sure to please the little music enthusiasts AND their chauffers:

Friday Night: Check out Jazz at The Woodmere

Get into the mood with John Coltrane compositions and other familiar songs.  The Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble will perform music selections including: “A Love Supreme,” “Equinox,” “My Favorite Things,” “Nature Boy,” and “Naima.” Friday night family programming runs from 6-7pm, with this week’s focus on storytelling. Families are treated to a story and hands-on activity.  Once 7pm hits, stay and enjoy Friday Night Jazz (6-8pm) where adults and kids alike enjoy the concert performance. Tip: kids are free, but adults need tickets for Friday Night Jazz, so get the Jazz tickets online or when you arrive for the family programming.  Tickets for jazz performances are $20 ($15 for members), children under 12 are free.

Saturday: Baby isn’t the only one who loves Disco!

If your taste in music runs a bit more contemporary, or if you just really want to see your kid try to walk in platform shoes, check out the Baby Loves Disco at Shampoo.  This event is geared towards kids 6 months to 7 years old.  We went years ago, and while being at the nightclub during the day with the kids is definitely a little surreal, it was a blast.  The lights, the goodies, the music and the way kids came outfitted for their dance party made it a truly memorable evenr.  Single ticket price is $20/ticket, family 4 pack is $60.  Party on from 1-4pm, Shampoo, 417 N 8th St. Philadelphia, PA.
