Museum patches up historic USS Olympia

How do you repair a 19th century water- and weather-worn war ship? Put a bandage on it.

Workers at the Independence Seaport Museum recently applied a 16-foot metal patch to the USS Olympia in the hopes the ship will soon by dry-docked to remain in good condition.

The patch is meant to keep the Spanish-American War ship in as good condition as possibel as the museum looks to donate the vessel elsewhere for further preservation.
