Murder leads to investigation by Phoenixville, Chester County police

Phoenixville Police and Chester County Detectives have launched an all-out investigation into the Wednesday morning murder of a man on the 100-block of Prospect Street.

Three suspects remain at large in the robbery-turned murder, and a backpack is at the center of it.

Police tell the Pottstown Mercury the trio was after Selvin Mamerto Lopez-Mauricio’s backpack, which they finally obtained control of when the victim was shot. The suspects are described as a black man in his 20s, a white man in his mid-20s and a white woman in her mid-20s, all wearing sweatshirts.
