Wednesday evening an alleged drunk driver injured four people after failing to stop at the busy toll booth.
Delaware State Police arrested Matt Rude, 31 of McLean, VA with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Reckless Driving, Operating a Vehicle at an Unreasonable Speed, Reckless Driving, Inattentive Driving, and No Proof of Motor Vehicle Insurance.
Rude was driving a Cadillac, with a 19-year-old female passenger, on the northbound side of I-95 when he failed to stop at the toll booth hitting the vehicle of Toney Manuel of Orlando, FL.
In a chain reaction, Manuel’s Durango then hit two toll booths and a Chevy Suburban being driven by John Mitchell of Charlottesville, VA. Debris from the crash rained down on the driver of a fourth car, Suhaiylah Williams of Princeton, NJ, who was stopped in an adjacent lane at the toll booth.
Four people, two of which were passengers, were taken from the scene and treated at the Christiana Hospital Trauma Center for non-life threatening injuries.
Matt Rude was arraigned at JP Court 11 and issued a $500.00 secured bond and a $3000.00 unsecured bond. He was then committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institution.
